LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss | Review

Hold on a sec. First of all, I don't want to brush this idea off without saying this... L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss has quite a deceiving description, second of all it's matte and it has the flat finish, yes. But it's not gloss or glossy at all. Two contrasting words to describe a lip product, huh.

What caught my attention first was the shade (Timeless) and second, the packaging. It is in a jumbo tube and it gives you (as the buyer) another selling point and the impression like, "Hey, it's worth the price!" Now, I want you to take a look at the bottom part, the circumference of the actual tube is smaller than what it is outside. See?

I know it is just P349 (I bought it at a mall), but if I am not going to take a look at the littlest detail of the product, it defeats the purpose of being frugal, you know what I mean? Here is what the wand looks like. It is just a typical wand applicator (not sure how the end is called, can someone tell me,  please?)

In the picture, you can see it's really opaque. But since I have tried it several times, I kind of discovered what I like about it and what not.

Tip #1: Wait for the first layer to set for a minute or two before applying the second layer.
Tip #2: After the second layer, don't press your lips against each other if you don't want to leave your lips with uneven color.

I love that it is smudge-proof. It won't transfer onto your glass, your spoon or to what you're wearing. It is not that much kiss-proof though. LOL! Another thing that I don't like about it is that it made the lines on my lips more emphasized.

Now, here how my lips looked like after my  Mexican-food pig out. The remnant of this lip product is still visible after everything happened at Silantro plus two glasses of Mojito. I actually left the place without doing some touch ups. Expect that there would be tacky feeling as well when you press your lips. I didn't use any lip liner prior to applying the product, by the way.

It wore off after almost 8 hours. I won't repurchase the same shade again, but I'd definitely try out the darker shades. I am forgiving just like that. You may want to use oil-based makeup remover to remove it from your lips but I used virgin coconut oil to get rid of everything. It is really long lasting depending on what you eat, drink and activities you did the entire day.

So that's pretty much it! I hope this review helps. Until my next post, my dear RaveViewers.

P.S. Two days left before my giveaway ends. See the mechanics here.

  1. I love matte lipstick! It is so nice to your lips --- highly pigmented, richly formulated and long-wearing.
